Canada's largest new home builder also wins awards for innovative Brampton community
OAKVILLE, ON, May 2 /CNW/ - Mattamy Homes is proud to have been named the 2011 Home Builder of the Year by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD). In total the company took home three awards at BILD's 31st annual awards, held April 29, 2011.
The Home Builder of the Year award is based on a survey of recent homeowners in various communities and measures quality, service and customer commitment from the moment the agreement of purchase and sale is signed right through to post-closing service period.
"I can't think of a more important indication of how well we're doing than positive comments from satisfied homeowners," says Mary Jane Dekort, Mattamy's Regional President, GTA Homebuilding, and Chief Marketing Officer. "Being named Home Builder of the Year is such an honour, and such a testament to all of our employees, trade partners and consultants, and their dedication to delivering the best homeowner experience."
This is the fourth time that Mattamy has received the prestigious Home Builder of the Year honour, having previously won in 2001, 2007 and 2009. No other builder has won the award that many times.
"To say that Mattamy's victory is not surprising would be an understatement," said BILD President and CEO Stephen Dupuis. "This is a builder that's well-known for quality, not only in home building, but also in customer satisfaction and giving back to the community."
Mount Pleasant Village also honoured
Mattamy's Mount Pleasant Village community in Brampton, Ontario, was also singled out for special recognition at the BILD Awards, as it was named Low Rise Project of the Year and Best New Home Design: Semi or townhome over 1,500 square feet.
Mount Pleasant Village, is a showcase community, offering families transportation (including a GO train station), shops and businesses, schools, parks, and a Village Square (with a reflecting pool that converts to a winter skating rink), all within a five-minute walk of home. Also within that five minutes are the main street with live/work townhomes, a library, and green space with acres of recreation fields, wood lots, waterways and trails.
"We believe that Mount Pleasant Village is a unique and special community," says Ms. Dekort. "Clearly the judges were impressed by its 'connected-ness' and transit-orientation, as well as the live-work design that adds a dimension that most communities don't have."
The BILD award for New Home Design was for the Village's "live-work townhomes" that will enable business-minded residents to live and work right in their neighbourhood.
Mount Pleasant Village opened in March 2010. More than 600 homes are being built in the first two phases, with more than 2,200 planned for the entire community.
