West Villages Florida One of the Hottest-Selling US Master-Planned Communities in 2019

Mattamy Homes development was the #4 selling master-planned community in the country and increased sales more than any other top competitor

Venice, FL, February 5, 2020 – According to lists published by two prominent real estate consulting firms, West Villages Florida was the fourth best-selling master-planned community in the United States in 2019. In addition, West Villages increased 2019 sales more than any of the other top five communities on the lists relative to 2018, with a 15% jump.

West Villages is being developed by Mattamy Homes, North America’s largest privately owned homebuilder. Its total of 1,273 sales in 2019 comprises multiple communities and builders. The centerpiece of the Mattamy-owned development in south Sarasota County, Florida is a 9,650-acre property that will eventually include more than 20,000 residential properties, as well as a vibrant retail and restaurant-oriented downtown, miles of recreational and cycling trails, numerous parks and amenities and various other mixed-use elements.

The Marketplace, a Publix-anchored, 105,000 square-foot shopping center, opened in the fall of 2019, featuring one of the nation’s top supermarkets and a mix of regional, local and national service providers and restaurants, offering many conveniences for residents and visitors. As well, construction has begun on a new downtown area, with an additional 75,000 square feet of entertainment and food/beverage options, miles of new trails and pathways, 280 apartments and a senior-living community.

Future growth plans for the development include:

  • A number of amenity and retail additions to the Marketplace and the Town Center
  • The launch of several new communities from new builders
  • Road work including extensions
  • Construction of waste-water and water-treatment plants
  • A land swap and sale with Sarasota County Schools for a new campus
